A few of my boxes have come from non-ideal circumstances and make me a little teary-eyed when I think about them. This one was given to me by a dad who lost his son and this was his kid's box. The dad didn't know what to do with it and didn't want to just drop it off at a thrift store. Before he told me the history, I mentioned it was cool that he had an old school boombox in his garage. I let him know I'd be giving it a new home and will proudly take care of it.
That's so nice, a box with history is always nice. It's a shame this one has such a sad history but it now has a new custodian who can look after it as should be. Great box and good you saved it.
I'm sure he was pleased it was going to a good home. I have a similar story with a heavily damaged Sharp GF9000 that I repaired and I'll never sell
