Hello to all! It’s a beautiful sunny day, just outside of Buxton, and I have a day off work (I can’t do much these days, but with a text to speech thingy, I can reply to online customer service stuff from home), and I have finally got around to being a member, rather than a lurker! I have a few portable devices - all original and all mine from days (far too long ago) gone by. Right as I type, they are all working in all respects. I haven’t posted photos, because I guess these are all pretty common, but if anyone wants, I’d be very happy to! My portable stuff is: Boombox - Sharp GF 9191. Originally bought in 1979. Personal Cassette Players- Toshiba KT-S1. Originally bought in 1980 or 1981, I’ve changed the belt and it all works as it did when new. I still have the radio insert, but also the original demo tape that came with it (which I’ve never seen again). I also have the original headphones. - Akai pm-r2. I have the radio insert and the case and belt loop, but I cannot find the earbuds. I didn’t use them much because they hurt my ears! This works in every way, but the change direction button is a little slow in operation. I bought this from Dixon in the Manchester Arndale in 1985. I have a couple of Sharp mini disc players, a Sony cd Walkman as well. Hope I fit in here - I can’t type so quickly - I have MS and only one hand works at all these days, but I’d be really happy to help if I can and to chat. thanks everyone!
Welcome to the forum Professor! While I was old enough to enjoy all the cool gadgets back then, no job = no money and thus no toys. I lived on my skateboard and used to grab the Sportsters when they went on sale. That's nice that you saved your equipment, I have a hard time selling or getting rid of my gadget collection which is to the point that I should start thinking about it.
