    Hi all

My name is Mark, and I stumbled across S2G after seeing the Facebook group. I've always been interested in portable audio stuff, having had a number of Walkman cassette models when I was a kid in the early 80's, and working my through various Discman, Minidisc, & MP3 models, until the iPod (and then iPhone) became my weapon of choice.

I bought the Walkman 40th Anniversary player last year, more as a nostalgia thing than anything, and found that it really revived my interest in retro players, so I went up in the attic and found a lot of players that I'd either forgotten I owned, or that I'd put in a box and stashed away years ago. I'll put a photo in one of the forums here. It's amazing how many people stop you and chat when they see you with an old school tape Walkman!

I've also recently taken delivery of a refurbished JVC M70, which is a boombox (is that the right term these days?!) that I owned as a kid. I'd forgotten how good the sound quality is from this model, not to mention how loud it goes!

Biggest pain for me has been finding and buying all the cassettes that I gave away back in the day when CDs came along. I already went through this (painful, not to mention expensive!) phase a couple of years ago when I got back into vinyl, so Discogs has been getting a fair chunk of my cash recently!

Looking forward to contributing on here, where I can. Oh, and I'm astonished by some of the collections I've seen on here - some of you have some amazing stuff!

    Mark.

    Welcome to Stereo2go Tredders

Yes you are so correct many people want to talk to you when they see you with a Walkman, i have had many conversations on the train and some people want to have a listen too.
