Hi to all, just joined, wish i had known about this group a long time ago. I am a retired engineer who fixes rather than replaces. recently getting more into 70's and 80's equipment sometimes modding to add updated technology and usability of some items. I was lucky to recently acquire a non working Philips D8814 "Elephant" and it now functions apart from the cassette unit that chews tapes due to the common damaged beige gear that is disintegrating. my mission is to fix up the damaged gear and make this a fully working item that i will use daily and enjoy. I hope to enlist advice from more experienced members. I hope to be able to contribute in due course as intend to document with pictures the more interesting repairs. best regards. Stagdriver
