Hello from Canada! I'm Colin and I'm from Alberta, Canada. I have three Sony Walkmans: DD, F5, and an AF54. The DD is mine, bought in 1982 and still in use. AF54 was my mom's which she gave me before she passed away 13 years ago. The F5 is an e-bay purchase for parts for the DD should I need them. I registered for this site as I am looking for reputable Walkman technicians. I had the centre gear and potentiometer replaced on the DD about a year ago. The pot is already back to one channel. The unit, being very well used, also has issue with worn FF and Reverse gear wear, which the repair shop did not address. I want the DD brought to as best condition as is possible - I held on to my cassettes from the 80s and listen to them at work and in car through Aux port. I am not electronically skilled in any way, shape or form and would do more damage than good if I were to tackle this myself. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Welcome to the forum Colin B65, there's a thread in the Walkman Section with repair people worldwide, unfortunately they are getting fewer. One of the members also mentioned finding a VCR tech locally, if you can find one, and they might be able to work on the players as well.
Thanks, Mister X! I will check it out. Yes, good repair techs are getting much harder to find. I will check into the local VCR techs and see what I can find.
