Hi know I was looking for trouble when I bought this Panasonic RQ-SX60, but it was in too nice conditions with its fancy remote control and the stylish look to pass it up.

It seemed a pretty straight forward job, replace belts and fix the clutch. The original belts had melted, I was able to remove them cleanly from the flywheels, but on the motor it was a mess. I had to take it all apart to clean it, but I was able to remove any trace of black goo.
Belt replaced, clutch fixed, walkman reassembled and it all seems to work fine; but when I plugged an headphone, W&F was to the roof, unbearable.
I opened it up again, inspected it and there is nothing evidently wrong, everything seems fine; I must say the transport is not exactly silent when in operation, you can hear a noise of plastic gears rotating, but I found no missing teeth and no evidence of dry grease or lubricant on the transport mechanism. Pinch rollers are fine, clean and with no dents.

I'm out of ideas; I had a similar bad experience with another RQ-SX walkman, but I was hoping it was just that one specimen. Is that a lost cause ?

    any help is appreciated.
    thanks
