Greetings from NY, US. I've been repairing vintage (70s/80s) boomboxes and walkmen for a while now as a hobby, on and off. I have some of the classics in good shape and always have too many projects going on at the same time.

Welcome! What was your most trying resurrection project?
Oh, and just in case you failed to notice: we (ahem, meaning me!) love to see some photos of your babies

Welcome stagulus, there's nothing like listening to a 30-40 year old box and thinking, damn, this sounds good. Having multiple projects? Join the club, I've got that nasty personality disorder where I hate having other people fix things for me, TMPs seems to be pretty rampant on S2G. Post any projects, I love seeing someone else working it really helps to motivate me.

    Welcome to Stereo2Go!
I respect it when people repair things by themselves, the effort that goes into finding the issue and fixing it and the experience and knowledge you need to aquire can be an impressive process.

    Thank for the warm welcome!

My most trying project.. probably the JVC M90. It arrived wrapped in a garbage bag that was filled with poly urethane sealant that hadn't fully set because there was so much of it in there! It took a few hours just to literally carve it out, that was really something. The box itself also did not work (expected), but there were so many reasons for that.. all throughout the box components had come loose, including parts like transistors so it needed a lot of resoldering. The tape deck's pcb was scorched from burning components. All of the pots were oxidized. That one took 3 months of just troubleshooting to get to a working state. It is blasting now though!
