These have great information I'm experimenting with various OCR (optical character recognition) to read them ,still you can read basic info dates ,types, dimensions etc. Also there is the Walkman Yearbook but too old and therefore too expensive.
Consider also these two boombox books that are worth to buy :

An example of how useful these books can be. I had this Technics RT-60LN cassette ,I new it was old ,but what year exactly?
To the rescue the"Cassette Tape Chronicle Book" :

That Technics Tape is really cool Machaneus, I've never seen one, or any of the other's on those pages; I always thought Technics was marketed around 1972 but this put it a little earlier. Thanks for the photos, I'm going to have to put in a book order as they look very interesting.

That crossed my mind too as a noise reduction choice for a cassette as early as 1970? But if you can't trust a Japanese book about a Japanese cassette tape who can you trust ?!
Yes they are good books with lots of interesting boomboxes ,the "Japanese Old Boombox Design Catalog" must be a revised edition of an earlier one with lots of good photography and you can "read" it the "conventional" way from left to right.

    Edited as new information found.
To answer my own question : another Japanese book!

National RT-60 is from 1970 while Technics RT-60 LN is from 1978.

Makes sense although the Technics Font seems a bit off.
