Looking for something else I just spotted this https://www.cnet.com/news/old-school-boombox-vs-todays-wireless-speakers-which-sounds-best/ Boombox fans won't be disappointed by the verdict. At the end the reviewer says that the JVC was simply what he had available to test. I'm sure I saw a similar JVC in the local charity shop for £20 a couple of years ago.
I don't hear much about bluetooth broadcasting quality these days, early on they always talked about how bad it was but now people don't discuss it. His test was kind of goofy, maybe if he had a wireless input on the boombox then it would be interesting.
I picked up 2 pcx 1000's they are one of the best iv heard although not portable they weigh in at 40 lb each
I just looked up that box on ebay, holy-cow is that thing a beast, I didn't believe that it weighed 40lbs but it's a really deep unit. I've got one of JVCs smaller models in my garage and it really throws out sound, 50' out in the yard it still sounds good!
Thanks buddy it's been on my want list for about 15 yrs, i can highly recommend it it's the highest in the range and is roughly double the power of it's smaller siblings the surround feature really stands out too.
You were also highly enthusiastic about the PC-X200 http://www.stereo2go.com/topic/index.php?board_oid=193392314111653340&content_oid=264750495636015161 I am now wishing I had picked up the one I saw which was definitely JVC and from the same range.
yes sir i still have that one, trouble is i have so many boxes now i can't get to them despite selling a dozen early on in the year...the ones to be avoided are the ones with the superbass horn, the trick is in the sealed hyperbass enclosure.
