For those with a few dozen or more Walkmans in working condition... what is your maintenance schedule? I am back up to a few dozen working, and thinking I might downsize a little, because the task of keeping these all running is going to be time consuming. Also curious, if you have a large collection of working Walkmans, how many do you have working, and how long have you had them?

I only have 5 units now, and they all work and I use them all the time. Sitting there not being used is the reason they generally don't work, if you use them all the time they generally don't need much maintenance just a clean.

Once you have had them overhauled to start with they generally stay working, as long as you keep using them.

The only thing I use to have serviced every 2 - 3 years was my Nakamichi CR-7, every 2 - 3 years without fail it went to Bowers & Wilkins Nakamichi for a full service to keep it in top condition.

Since I only have a few things, I can afford to have them maintained, on average when the CR-7 goes in for a service it cost £300+. If I had too many things, I would not be able to keep everything in good working condition.

So I say sell what you don't really need or use, that way you will be able to keep what you have in good working condition.
