Alright! As promised, here's the little Marantz I recently got from Winnipeg, Manitoba. It's nearly perfect, but after a few days at the doctor, I was told it no longer can record from both sides due to its age! But it's still fantastic! It plays tapes very well, FF and REW, and beautiful FM and AM reception! It sounds really nice! See the pictures below!
This box calls for celebration. You told me about a Marantz you were after when we met this Summer, and I was pretty sure it was this one. I have never seen one in person, but I had seen pictures of this unit for sale. Congratulations, Marantz are class units, and yours seems so very carefully built. A little gem, the function switches are unique for shape and position. And the box looks mint! Thanks for sharing the pics. And please go ahead: your collection is original and full of quality specimens. One of the most personal on stereo2go
Nice machine! Also like those function switches. And this: Super Hard Metal Alloy Head Wow! Must be serious business. Phase Locked Loop MPX also sounds impressive, some sort of "super-good" MPX filter?
Thanks for the compliments Mystic! The truth is that I didn't even clue in on that feature! I gotta look into that! It's a good sounding unit, and at this point I'm pretty happy with that. Cheers!
Well, as far as I got it: A phase-locked loop or phase lock loop (PLL) is a control system that generates an output signal whose phase is related to the phase of an input signal. Plus, MPX itself: As for the MPX filter, that was generally for recording from FM https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPX_filter
Well... I wish I could "Like" this message of yours twice!! No need for any research with you around! Thanks Mystic!! Great knowledge!
Geoff, it's not that minty! It's not bad, but it'd never rate higher than say a 7-7.5/10, overall. Anyway, I'm still plenty happy to have it. Marantz boxes don't seem too readily available! As far as the time machine... well, wouldn't that be dandy!? I'd take you all, I mean all, on a couple trips, the only thing though is that you'd have to acquire some plutonium to put into the flux capacitor and generate 1.2 Gigawatts of power! Great Scott! I just gave away the secret! :ninja:
