These are the decks that I currently own and use in my garage "beat laboratory". The oldest deck I have is probably late 1970's and when I say "deck" I am including my field recorders which have served as my home deck over the years. Enjoy

Ps: I am not trying to sell anything, just offering some kindly content for discussion.

None are really in the best of shape but I am doing my best to keep them going. I collect anything but do have some issues with nostalgia when does make it rather difficult to let some things go. I am sure many can relate

My favorite decks are the older table top (horizonal) style. Mainly because it is what I started with in 1978 making mix tapes of KISS.

I do also own a Sony TC-D5 but it has started playing slow and has been packed away for future repair. Until this years it had been my primary recording deck.

Nice decks, I like some of the olders one as well and kept them around. Great tape, we listened to that relentlessly while driving to hockey around the state when it came out.

Nice decks, and you can say you own a Nakamichi !.

In the U.K. in the 1970s there was an AKA of the Nakamichi 500 Dual Tracer top loader sold by Goodmans, which is rather surprising since by the 1990s the two brands were at opposite ends of the audio spectrum with Goodmans being the sort of thing you bought if you couldn't afford Sanyo.

My tape deck journey is short and simple.

My first tape deck was a Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1, which I bought after missing out on buying Nakamichi CR-4. The CR-4 was just discontinued just in time when i have the money saved, the shop had a demo CR-4 but I wanted a brand new in box one.

My second tape deck and last deck I own is a Nakamichi CR-7. The CR-7 was the one I wanted all along but was way out of my price range at the time.
Since I am not a collector, it was always about sound quality. Now that I have the one that sounds transparent and most natural to my ears, my quest is now at an end. I have owned the Nakamichi CR-7 since 2001, it’s here to stay.

Same here tocool it's all about sound quality for me too although i have had dozens of everything and i am on a very limited budget and always have been

i have the best of the boomboxes but as i have said before i hardly use them, i just don't see the point when i can use a half decent hifi, gave dozens away kept the best, mind you when i was mobile it was much different lad

my monitor audio were only £500 i just had to rebuild them, much better value than walkmans or boomboxes these days, my hifi is 10x better than what people would have on welfare so I'm happy
