These lovely things arrived today. Vintage 70’s signs direct from an old style small electrical store. In great condition. Gonna do light boxes for them both as they’re supposed to be back lit. Really like these. Might keep both if I’m feeling greedy
It was amazing to see how your puzzle of this package got cracked at boomboxery by Bbox Mama!!! I feel like Shrek here: almost wanna ask if you gonna use both of these
I love signs, I have a few around here and they cool when they are backlit. There's one for sale locally but they want pretty good money for it.
Me too. I have various beer signs, some of which are neon. The only other box related one is this one
That would look simply excellent with flourescent tube lighting!! So early 80's!! I remember so well our Panny dealer in Bognor Regis had two like this & I would cycle past on the cold winter evenings & see the bright Panny signs, always a comfort to me for some reason!!
Didn't they front pressed steel cabinets with tube lighting? Housing sprayed white or similar with a simple rocker switch for the lights? Would be great to see this replicated! I wonder how many really remember these signs from 1980 ish till the late 80's & the dealers that used along with how many survive to this day.......Not too many!!
Dunno, might have to do a bit of investigating to see how they were housed. I certainly remember all these types of signs and the electrical shops that used to hang them. This pair came from a remote part of Scotland where high streets can be like stepping back in time 40 years so the little electrical repair shop is still there. That’s who I bought it from
Not a small Scottish shop, but it gives and idea of how the signs could be used. https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tec...op-making-batteries-in-beijing-cut-1300-jobs/
Yes that's exactly how they were built. I have one on Epay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263815784308?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
There's one locally for the same price Reli, I'm so tempted they're pretty cool and getting more rare.
