Finally got round to working on this cute little JVC PC-50 after buying on eBay a year ago...

Awkward to get to the mechanism for belt change and I managed to detach a single wire

The auto reverse head seems to have 6 wires - this black one detached.. (Orange, White, Blue, Red, Grey, Black)
Since it is playing fine on FW and REV that makes me think the floating wire might be from the erase head...?
I'll never record on this box, but don't want to just leave it floating around you understand.

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this or share a service manual? can't find one anywhere online...

Sounds great for its size and I got the autoreverse working after swapping for a tighter belt - seems more torque required on rev - is this normal?

Your assistance greatly appreciated, as always

A similar model in the line might help you out here if can't find a manual, but looking at that picture of the board i notice something interesting that there is a solder point there that looks like it a point of interest mainly because it has a rounded top and not pointed wick end.Use a 30x magnification here and look at the solder point it looks like i can see the remains of some of the wire buried in the side of the solder point.
