Hi everyone, I am working on a RQ-S40V and following some of the tips from Valentin on this model. The forward pinch roller bracket holding pin is bent and actually loose in the bracket a bit. Any thoughts (maybe Valentin?) on how to best repair this? It is not loose enough to come out, unless I somehow press it out. I was going to get it levelled to the head with a little superglue on the back side and then put a bead of epoxy on the inside understanding there is limited room as the pinch roller mechanism slides fairly far in. I don't think the pad lifter is bent, it seems to be fairly well aligned and goes up and down OK. To reduce the spring tension on the pinch roller mechanism, is it just best to force the spring a bit? Thank you!
I see Valentin just posted a complete tutorial on this - thank you! I had already started repairing mine in a very similar fashion and everything looks really good, aligned, lifter fixed, new belt, lubed, etc. However, I do get that chipmunk flutter in FWD (only) most noticeable in the high frequencies. Doing more research, it looks like this is often not easily repairable due to limitations of the mechanism itself. Anyone have any last minute ideas? I have reduced the spring tension but could do it a bit more. Thank you.
