Just bought the Rhythm Beige Special Edition and they sound terrible!

The bass is super forward and the midrange (esp vocals) is hollow and way in the background. It sounds like the singer is a hundred miles away singing into a tin can. Sort of sounds like very poorly executed stereo-wide. I have $20 headphones that sound waaaay better.

On the headphone cord, there is a small slider volume control with a small black button on it. When I press and hold the small button, the headphones sound completely normal…quite good sound actually. Problem is, the button won’t stay depressed. As soon I let it go, the sound is terrible.

There’s no user’s manual in the box and there’s no manual on the Koss website. So I don’t know what that button is actually for or if it’s defective.

Can anyone help? As of now, looks like there are going back to Amazon.

Reminds me of the movie The fifth Element where the outer space aliens pressed that little red button on that multifunction thing

I don't see anything on the button except that it's for pairing or phone calls. It sounds like it's not working correctly, maybe try it with a phone and see if it works right.

All sounded the same. I can’t believe how bad it was.
    I returned them through Amazon.

They HAD to be defective. These are celebrated headphones with great bang for the buck. When $20 Panasonic’s sound waaay better, you know there’s something wrong.

You need to get the original Koss Sporta Pro without the button. I ordered 3 more a year or two ago. They are good for what they cost. Compact. I use mine on the computer to listen to youtube vids. Or do testing of Discman players or boombox headphone out etc., and then I end up using them for hours. I should order a bunch more before they are discontinued or replaced with junk models like you just experienced. So thank you for creating this thread. I will prioritize ordering more spares for the spares

I have pairs all over the place. Only basic cheap headphone I use (not for "serious listening" though  ). All the other basics are long gone and were annihilated by the Koss Sporta Pro. Strong bass without being muddy muffled or distorted. Depends on source device and music played of course. Your mileage may vary etc,.

I’m glad I’m not the only one buying spares for the spares. I own five RX-2700s. You know, in case the first four break lol.

I will try a pair of Porta Pro’s without the volume control. They are $20 cheaper.

In the meantime I bought a vintage pair of Numark HV-235R headphones on eBay and I LOVE them. GREAT looking and they sound really good.
