I might have to hit up record store day this weekend, one of my local shops might have this very limited edition Black in Black to replace the few that I have that I've lent, played, lost, found and played again. Otherwise my little SJ-J500 needs another album to burn up after we abused it after the last party. https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/10143
I've seen it but I'm not sure about the sound quality. I think I'll stick to my vinyls and record a good SA from them...
Limited edition, 2500 total and it's only $12 bones. It's been getting some buzz in the US and it's kind of a loss-leader thank-you to get the word out about Record Store Day. I don't know if you have it over there but it's really picked up momentum over the last five years here with several limited release records put out just on this day.
People love RSD here but I’m always buying records so don’t really need any encouragement to go. We also have cassette store day but same applies, if some people go to a record store instead of amazon then that’s cool but it’s a bit touristy. Every day is record store day!
Yesterday I went to a walk with a friend to see some record stores here at Barcelona. There where a lot of people and I realized that any other today is better than this one to take such walk. I found some interesting cassettes: These two are pirate releases of concerts, very curious. I’ve never seen such tapes:
We have several shops around town now and a new one about every three months seems to open. They're a little too far apart to spend too much time hunting for treasures but I did go to the little tiny one north of town. These guys always hook me up and always seem to have neat obscure stuff nobody else has and they know what it is and what it's worth and they charge half of that. Record store day reminds me of the old days when you knew Van Halen had their new album coming out and you went down to the store around 4 pm and waited with 30-40 other people to be the first one to own it. With all of the limited releases it makes it worth going out if your looking for something cool, although my little store didn't have the AC/DC Cassette or the limited edition Taylor Swift Album. I did score some nice cassettes, Rod Stewart four cassette best of, for $2.50 USD, the box looks a little tattered but the cassettes are mint; some 80 heavy metal tapes to play in the work truck, including KIX's infamous "Cool Kids" album that they hated and denounced, a NOS Sony METAL-SR Tape for $3.00 USD and that nice little Herrald Demagnetizer for another $1.50 USD. Not bad and it was fun talking to all the guys in the store, lot's of good stories and a nice lead on a 70's Pioneer Car Stereo and "huge" boombox the owner said he bought new at a flea market in 1980.
I went along and queued up in the morning, good thing i did as i grabbed the last three cassettes in the store. I got the AC/DC re-release of Back in Black and a copy of Wu Tangs first album, Enter the 36 Chambers.
What was the crowd like T-ster? I see the AC/DC is going for big money on the bay now. I wonder if the 2500 units was world-wide or just USA.
Yeah there was a big crowd, Bang and Olufsen were there too doing a record deck giveaway which i entered. Im in the UK, I believe the 2500 units is worldwide. Really good crowd though and lots of fun.
