I recently took on the task of repairing a D6C for a quick buck. I replaced all the rubbers as per request of my friend, but the issue still hasn't been resolved.. sorta. Initially the issue was the head on the right side that winds the cassette back in the shell after being played didn't spin at all. *** Now I have gotten the take-up reel to click. NO RW or FF or PLAY!!!!*** The reel just moves 1/32 of a rotation and clicks. [The pinch roller works perfectly] I'm not as inclined with cassette players and their mechanisms, but I seem to be steering toward the clutch assembly. My only issue is this assembly. Where would I locate the parts for a new cam arm, spring, and main gear? What grease should I use? Any information will help! Thank you, Benjamin
It's difficult to diagnose your problem, more so if you don't post any pictures. I think it's possible that you have made an error while re-assembling. Do a picture search on the internet and compare your unit to those pictures to ascertain that there isn’t a misplaced lever or unhooked spring somewhere. There are some threads here too, like this one: https://www.stereo2go.com/forums/th...-and-flutter-when-take-up-reel-is-full.10239/
Clicks and no takeup torque/no rotating of reel would indeed indicate a broken clutch gear. There's a thread already covering this, so I suggest checking it: https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/tps-l2-broken-clutch-gear.9534/ If gear is cracked, you will be able to see the cracks (higher distance between teeth in some points) visually. For lubrication use watch oil and white lithium grease (where grease is needed).
