Back in 1982 people were more likely to buy a stereo from a company they had heard of like Amstrad or Fisher.
An error I spotted in the First Man film was the Astronauts watching a 1960s Russian Space launch on a Samsung TV. Samsung didn't start making TVs until 1970 and even then they were using Sanyo parts.

1982 was the first year the U.K. started getting imports of cars from Korea, with 2993 Hyundai Ponys sold here.

I had heard before that the people behind the Pony used to work for British Leyland (Rover) but didn't realise they were the ones behind the Marina (despised by Top Gear).

I just mentioned Samsung in another thread, we didn't get Korean Imports until the late 90's? We were getting the Hyundai earlier but I don't remember any other products. I have one early Samsung Boombox, it's the only one I've ever seen for sale and I snagged it. Heavy build, medium size, metal trim rings and not bad looking. It is a USA Model but I don't know how it got by our trade restrictions.
