I wanted to post this under "Look What I Found" but I'm genuinely upset at what I did. I think the 225CR is one of the best-looking Discmans Sony ever made. Subjective, of course. I love the design and was drawn to the illuminated display and that it was only 1 of 3 or so that came with an IR remote. Anyway, after months of sesarching I found, essentially, a flawless one. I'd had it for a few days and was walking around the house listening to it. Flipped it over to read the bottom panel (ooooh Made it Japan!) and when I flipped it back I don't know what happened. My finger... melted? a spot into the lid while upside down. I washed my hands before handling it (as I do all my collection) and I'd been holding it the entire time with no other effects. I don't know what happened. I was/am furious. It's purely cosmetic - I don't think there is a way to repair it. You can see it in the top left but it's much more visible in daylight. I'm so mad at myself, I've decided I'm on the hunt for another. Besides eBay, any suggestions on where I could find one? Are there collectors here, or other websites I may not know about? Thx all.
if Windex does not work then spray-paint with some clear lacquer (flat, or green, red or whatever is your fav color?) onto the lid! Definitely take Discman apart to spray just the lid,... you will need an airbrush, clear lacquer diluted 1:5 with lacquer thinner ... but the end-result will be AWESOME!!! Guaranteed
