    Hey all,

So I bidded on this earlier last week, I wasn't expecting to win it, but ended up getting it for £86. Most specs online and reviews of the period seem to imply its a pretty exceptional deck back then, especially for the price.

Even though the majority of my gear is Technics I do have a Sony MiniDisc deck so this can go underneath that.

Has anyone used this model before?

    Cheers
    Ryan

Its amazing how you got it for only £86. Does it work?

That’s indeed a good score. With 3 head and assisted calibration it’s a very good deck. Also if it’s in perfect shape and working order, you’ve found a treasure!

Thanks Walkman archive, Dolby S is very impressive even on this deck, even though its more of a prosumer model than anything high end.

PS Love your Walkman Archive website, it really got me back into cassette decks and Walkmans again.

Here is the Sony Deck now pictured in my HiFI stack

I just bought the same unit last week, what a coincidence!
I grabbed it at 50€ shipping included, I got very lucky in the bid (I'm now waiting for my karma payback...)
The unit starts and the motors are working (the door for example works perfectly) but as I opened the unit I found the belts were snapped, as always. Now I'm waiting the spare belts and I'll try to replace them without breaking anything. I'm also considering to have it fully serviced but I'm too eager to record a high quality cassette for the first time, to wait the biblical time of a technician :)
