I have got a Sony WM-D6C with a fault, The motors will not turn, at all. The amplifiers work, i can hear hiss when play is pressed, and the BATT light comes on. But no motors turn. I am gutted. I am a savvy with electronics, but this is not the average tape recorder! All wires are in place. Motor shaft is not stiff, no belts were slack. Could anyone please help ?

Have you checked the voltage on the motor and confirmed it's getting any? I'd probably DeOxit up the speed dial and the speed on/off switch just to make sure they aren't the issue
