I just installed my first central gear on a Sony WM-F5.it was clicking before due to a cracked gear . I followed Marian’s instruction and changed with the new gear but something I obviously wrong and I cannot figure out where this nasty clicking sound coming from.
Any idea where this clicking is coming from?

Try rotating this with your finger and feeling with the other finger to feel for a click space or rough-ness and then go back and determine?

Haven't fixed a single DD myself, but agree with @Cassette2go
Frequency of clicking seems to be the same as centerwheel rotation, when dot at 4 o'clock position it clicks. I would start with this also, maybe one screw or something a bit off?

I disassembled the parts and tightened the 6 screws and placed parts back together and somehow the clicking is gone. So I guess one of the screws was not tight. Thanks for your help, problem resolved

I tried to repair another WM-F5 , FF and REW works but play doesn’t work since the lever moves down and stops the main gear.
    Any suggestion?

Check the capstan rubber if it is greasy, clean it with a hard pencil rubber and alcohol. Check also the tension screw if it is to loose

I did and now works fine. Cleaned the capstan rubber with alcohol and right away problem solved.
    Thank you very much.
By the way I would like to send you some D3 Walkman to repair for me.
