Thanks Kent! It's nice to see the early units, it's amazing how it went from these to Walkman's in a few short years. I see them with boxes for sale more often than other cassette players, I think it was because these were a pretty big purchase in the early 70's and the owners really respected them and how cool it was to be able to record sound anywhere, plus some of the artwork is outstanding.
Nice to see the original packaging. There is an explanation of the Norelco name on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norelco Other companies like National (Panasonic) had similar problems. I wonder how many of these were made. My guess would be hundreds of thousands as they aren't particularly rare and the basic design stayed the same throughout the 1960s They were still in the 1971 Philips catalogue along with some additions. Apologies for the poor quality photo but I don't have the original document. As well as Hugo's page there is a ten page discussion on these here https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75160 and on that a link to an even more interesting website http://www.oudio.nl/ p.s Kent. If you are ever running out of things to buy, look for the utterly bonkers N2408 Cassette changer above the EL3302 on the left complete with the optional Ski-Jump attachment.
