Some of you may have been following the saga of my JVC PC-55. I decided not to toss it in the recycle bin after I found one on ePay that looked sound. As the description seemed accurate, I decided to take a chance. It arrived less than a week and was securely packed. The tuner/amp portion needed a lot of work to get it up to full operational standards; but I chose not to do that right away, as mine was already restored. It was the cassette deck I was after. The description said the bulbs were burnt out; which they were. Two new fuse LEDs took care of that. The real surprise was how clean and intact the deck is - both inside and out. All lettering on the control panel is like new, as is everywhere else. Minor front cleaning with a damp cloth with only water made it really look nice. I did a head demag and complete tape path clean and relube - looks and performs as new - both play and record - no calibration was needed...really surprising and pleasing. The record level sliders were cleaned anyway, so they don't have to be done later down the road. The belt is as new. (Thank goodness; as these things are a pain to replace.) Now the LCD display:... Most of the segments show up; the only ones that don't are the righmost hyphen "-" for showing tape transport, the right direction arrow (next to the hyphen) to show the foreward tape play path, two segments each on both the VU meters from -2 to 0 are not displaying at all. But everything else is fine, including the alpha display that shows the current tape status. (PLAY, REC, FF, REW) All in all, it was a great purchase. I have two (2) spare carry handles and one(1) battery compartment cover for sale if anyone is interested.
There's nothing better than when they show up better than advertised. I have to believe the handles will fit a few units, I have a JVC something, I think it's the little brother to the PC-55, that needs a handle. do you know the length from connection point to connection point? I did a short look around and I'm not sure where it's hiding so I don't have the size right now.
Thanks for replying! I've measured the distance between the connecting points and it is 30cm from one to the other. I hope that helps!
It a JVC PC R11J, the metal bars are 27.3 cm or 10.75" apart, is that the same size and how much do you want it it fits? Here's a listing on ebay, it should look like this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-To...:-CEAAOSwraRdIrEC:sc:USPSPriority!55042!US!-1
The bars are spaced a little further apart on the JVC PC-55; as shown by the attached picture of my JVC PC-55C. The handle does look the same, but it's bigger. Part number:. VJH3019-00F. I'm unsure what the part number would be for your JVC PC R11J.
Glad to try to be able to help. If you find it will work for you, please let me know. That price on ePay is outrageous.
