It's not a boombox but there was no other suitable I found this! section to put it: A fresh find in the corner of the Parkade the other day. Technics RS-TR157 cassette deck, JVC tuner and receiver amp, RCA 5 disc CD player etc., Will keep the cassette deck and see if it works and clean it up! Fun. Oh, speakers are some old 1980's Magna Sonic model AD 3020. Can't find much on Google. Anyone interested in the rest can receive it free of charge via the Free Global Transport on Teleporter channel Hyperscope-2654 modulation setting 57
I bet the speakers were part of a audio store chain's brands. The JVC looks interesting, is it heavy?
Yeah the JVC is heavy. I still have it. Put the 5 disc CD player outside and someone took that quickly. The Technics deck, I had that apart yesterday, issue is with old grease and the tape pick up spools only turning sporadically. The cassette mechanism is the same as in the Panasonic Cobra head boomboxes. Right down to the same "gear" that often needs to be replaced and for which replacements are available. And it takes the exact same belts as the Panasonic Cobra RX-DT707. So I put in the old belts from the Panasonic and that corrected some issues. But half way through I just couldn't justify the waste of my time anymore. I mean this is exactly why I got the rebuild and calibrated Nakamichi... so I don't have to waste my previous time with junk like this anymore. So I put it aside ready to throw out and removed the pinch roller assemblies and tape head unit for potential use on another Panasonic Cobra Head in future. However, one task remains: To take out the various screws of this made in Japan Technics deck and see if the thread pitch (metric of course) of any of them fits the Nakamichi deck metal underneath threads... for the replacement rubber feet / legs I have here.
I have the same jvc amplifier . it's sounds pretty damn good and powerful . I also have the original owners manual that came with it.
