Hi, Over the years I have accumulated a few Walkman that I do not really want to collect. They are rather ordinary and cheap models. Maybe there is still someone who is interested in these Walkman. I don't want to sell them, if anyone is interested please send a PM in order to pick them up as they are (in Switzerland) for free (ok, feel free to contribute for a beer if you like ) or, in case I have to ship them, I would like to ask the future owner to pay the shipping costs Here is a short description of the models (see photo below): #1 Telefunken Super Traveller 2 Condition: Not restored. Working, but tends to eat tape #2 Fair Mate ST1317 Condition: Not restored, working #3 Original Sony NiCd gumstick battery charger Condition: working #4 Sony WM-EX 500 Condition: should work, case with many traces of usage. Complete, but in parts -> probably not for suitable for beginners #5 Sony WM-EX500 Condition: Autoreverse-issue, probably a broken photo sensor. Case with some traces of usage. Complete, but in parts -> probably not for suitable for beginners in this condition #6 Sony WM-FX10 Condition: Not restored. Radio: working, Tape: motor running, needs new belt #7 ISAM 11-350 Model KC26 Condition: Not tested/unknown. Did not find any information about this Walkman #9 Sony WM-3000 My first Sony Condition: optical good, motor running, melted belt #10 Sony WM-FX23 Condition: Radio: working. Tape: Motor running, needs new belt, battery compartment dirty #11 Sony WM-52 Nice WM with built in wind-up phones Condition: earpieces unfortunately missing, motor running, need new belt #12 Sony WM-3000 My first Sony Condition: Restored, working. Good optical condition, motor a bit noisy (mechanically). This Walkman was used by my son for several years. He has got now a WM-DD30 # 13 OHAYO SDC344 Condition: Optical good, working, dirty battery compartment, plays very loud (output 2x 20mW) #14: Sony WM-51 nice WM with built in wind-up phones Condition: Restored, works fine but has some w/f. Just in case you have a WM-DD9 (or similar) in your bulk of unused or unwanted Walkmans, please send an email In fact, there are still tons of simple and cheap Walkmans around (like several on the picture above). On the one side, it's not really worth it to collect them but on the other hand it would be a pity to throw them away. Anyone who has a good idea what to do with these less wanted models?
Either keep them and watch them go up in value ? Either that or sell or pass them on to people who will do the same or even better use them. I fail to understand the excitement about companies like RTM producing a new cassette personal stereo when for not much money you can get a genuine Sony Walkman less than ten years old that probably performs better. http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/the-last-tape-walkman-s.5362/ I have mentioned before that my late Father collected to trains. He always thought that the ones that would appreciate the most were the "cheap and cheerful" ones that didn't cost much when new. Consequently the majority got trashed when the kids grew out of them, and there aren't many left. They are also likely to be things that adults remember from their youth and want to replace. How many kids had a Tiffany Walkman ? How many had one like the ones you have just generously given away. The same thing happened with Japanese robots toys etc. We are beginning to see it with things like 1980s computers which were all but worthless in the late 1990s.
