Hello everyone:) I am new here

I have a Sony TPS-L2 Walkman which I tried to repair myself. I gave it some random rubberbands from home (which are similar in size).

    Things that work:
-Playback speed. From what I can tell, it plays the music at a fine speed.
    -Rewind.

    Things that don't work:
-Quality. It's hard to determine what the biggest factor is for the "wobbly" playback. *I can't upload the sound on here, it just says: "The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension."
-Volume Adjustors. I can't determine what the issue here is either. The volume goes up and down inconsistently. There is a very scratchy noise when I try to adjust them. Also sometimes it plays very weakly in the other ear.

Since I am new, I don't really know what these are:
I don't know what the 'Idler tire' does or where it is located, or if it has anything to do with my problem:)
    Same for the 'Pinch Roller'.

The person who opened it up before me ruined some of the screw holes. Some large screws are where the small should be and vice versa. So if you could show me where the long/short ones go, that would be fantastic:)

Thanks for reading, hope you can help me :)
    Good day!

Hello Noertoft, here's some information to get you started, this page does a nice job of explaining everthing.

This is a very old player that might need some basic maintance, first the belts should be the proper size and type, rubber bands are ok to check operations in a pinch but overall they rarely let the unit play correctly. The controls may need cleaning, over here we use a contact cleaner called DeOxit, the switches and dials have metal parts that get corroded or rusted and electronics cleaner will help. You may have other products there, our electric guitar shops carry this stuff, scratchy volume on a big amplifier will kill your ears.

The female jack that the headphones plug into may also need cleaning, look for green corrosion or rust on the metal. Inside the unit, the jack will have two wires, these will break or get loose with a lot of use, they just need to be resoldered. Here's the service manual, I've downloaded from this site several times. This has the proper screw sizes.

This guy does a break down of the unit, this may also help.

This is a highly collectable unit, you may want to send it in for repair, I don't have one but they seem to be pretty basic compared to newer models and repair should be pretty easy for a trained technician.
