Hello I'm new to collecting and i plan on fix them myself i went to my local antique shop and they have two models available that interested me a cheaper Walkman Wm-2 that lights up and spins the motor so probably only needs new belts it looks rather tired has scratch marks and a small crack but sounds easier to fix they also have a WM-F2 for a lil bit more expensive it looks in very good shape it got a recording function which is welcome since i have no recording machine but it has no signs of life I'd like to hear y'all's advice

Go for the WM-2, you know it kind of works. The recording functions on the Walkman are not up to much anyway.

It looks like they're both going up in value nicely, the F2 is about 30% larger but it does have a radio. Back in the old days batteries were (and still are) expensive and you'd get a day or two from them running the tapes. A radio was nice because that would still work, it would just lose volume.

Other than that they are mostly the same, the WM-2 is kind of iconic but they both look great on display.
