After I replaced centre gear, capstan flywheel rubber, rewind gear and counter belt that i bought from marian i decided to check wow/flutter...

The gear installed and lithium grease applied to gears.

I did the measurement using a speed test tape with 3Khz test tone i also bought from marian while adjusting the screw above the flywheel. When the lowest w&f achieved i apply screw locking compound.

    The measurement is below:

Average w&f measured about 0,05% which is good.
So i put everything back and i connected my D3 to my home stereo to record a mix tape...It records and plays beautiful except for one weird thing...
On some tracks and on specific frequencies (mid/hi frequencies) i hear "flutter"
One example is the first seconds of Under the bridge by Red hot chilli peppers. The high-tone guitar sounds like there is no speed stability...

When i try to record the same song on another cassette deck with worse wow & flutter (0.07) i cannot hear flutter or it is barely audible...how is this possible???

The interesting thing is that the measurement of the other cassette deck (TC-KE600S) is more stable...it varies from 0.06 to 0.07. The D3 measurement varies from 0.03 to 0.07

Of course i used the same tape on both machines...

    Any ideas???
