    Checking in from Connecticut.

I joined this forum to find out more about various CD equipment. I never had much of a CD collection, but I have recently decided I would enjoy music more if I had it on physical media. So I'm looking at how I might get the most out of the CD medium, recording my own, maintaining backups, etc.

I almost got into MiniDiscs instead, but Sony's DRM stuff seems to have hindered the usefulness. Decided on CDs for the ability to make copies and read them onto a computer, plus practicality and ubiquity. Glad to see there is an active old school forum on this topic!

Welcome bleb, you'll find some interesting CD players on this forum. Just like portable cassette players, the manufacturers went to extremes to pack a ton of electronics into little boxes. Believe it or not, I still burn CDs to play in my car, I like having 15-20 songs that I can get into instead of 10,000 that I can never seem to find one I like. Just like cassettes did a few years ago, the prices of CDs have nose-dived and you can find a box at a garage sale for a few dollars.
