The term "game changer" is thrown around constantly, but I had never encountered a product that actually fit the description until now.

While attending the High End Show in Vienna, I met Norman Varney from AV Room Service. After discussing his Equipment Vibration Protectors (EVPs), I decided to test them under my heavy, non-suspended turntable. I purchased three of the large, heavy-duty (HD) EVPs to handle the weight.

Back home, I established a baseline by listening to two familiar tracks: Zhané’s "Good Times" and the E-Z Rollers' "Droppin' Science Pt II (E-Z Remix)." I kept my system settings identical and swapped in the EVP feet.

The transformation was immediate and shocking. When the first track started, the background noise drop was so significant that I genuinely thought I had forgotten to select the turntable input on my pre-amp. The clarity soared, the soundstage widened, and the bass tightened up beautifully.

The real test, however, was the E-Z Rollers track. For years, this song distorted heavily when the bass kicked in at over the two-minute mark. I always assumed it was recorded too "hot" and that the distortion was baked into the press. I was completely wrong. With the EVPs installed, the distortion vanished. Track after track, the results are simply amazing.

I am letting the feet settle for a day or two to check if they compress and require re-levelling. But even now, I am finally hearing what my turntable is truly capable of. Are the EVPs a genuine game changer? I think so.

The scary thing is, I am now listening to track louder without realising it due to the noise being lower. I only notice it’s louder by seeing the volume knob.

Interesting but I believe it since all my stands tend to shake with enough movement. My stuff is light weight and moves much easier I wonder if putting it on a mat would help.

If you have large movements, I will say solve that first with sturdier stands. Once that is fixed, use the EVP’s to optimise at the end. I am not sure the EVP’s will eliminate large movements, they are designed to reduce vibrations.
Do you have a picture of what you are trying to fix?

    Interesting, thanks for sharing.
A set of feet correct for my turntable would cost me around twice the price of the turntable itself, so probably not for me! :)

I'm still working on my dedicated space, I accidently bought a 2nd TV that sits next to another one for dual watching and it sits right where the Sansui FR was. Now I have to make some more room but the good news is the rack is pretty solid and weighted down with other equipment. I never thought about cushioning with foam but I've got enough different densities to mess around with and see what happens.

When I was working in the audio world for a short time, the company was always trying to come up with new gadgets, I was the tech that had to document the results which was a lot of fun but some tests would take days of repetition.

isolator42 I agree. That wouldn't be a wise move. If you have that kind of budget, you will get much better results investing it in a turntable upgrade first. Tweaks are just the icing on the cake you need the cake first!

Mister X, how do you accidentally buy a second TV?
I suspect these isolation feet are a bit more advanced than standard foam, but trying anything is better than nothing. Let us know how the foam works out if you decide to test it.

Indeed so, TC4. My hearing is now far from perfect (gigs since '83 & car audio since the 90s), so the chances of me hearing any difference by upgrading my £300 turntable are very low :)

I think, I have always been sensible when it comes to my hearing. I wore ear plugs when gigs are too loud, and I never really like loud when I have headphones on.
