Yep, Sony was founded in 1946 on this day May 7th! For us older members their products dominated our early lives. My first Sony was a portable 1960's TV my parents won somewhere. I was excited by it's tiny size, no other neighbor had one, and the crazy cool build quality where the handle had detents and clicked smoothly into place, the dial turned and also clicked, but moved like smooth like butter. The battery pack was huge but having a portable TV was a kids dream!
Happy Birthday Sony! Big Sony fanboy here, had a lot of Sony equipment over the years, always go back to it as the quality is always there.
I'm always working on equipment and in most cases you can still fix anything from back then. I see YT Videos where a touch screen on modern equipment goes down and whatever it is, it gets bricked. Then there's stuff like home security or even computer software that either the company goes out of business or they decide the product is no longer useful so they shut down a "call home" server and it becomes useless. Some of our old audio might out live any of the new stuff.
