I love fixing cassette decks & they have to be pretty much perfect!! The Silver is more like a hifi, incredible sound that the phone simply cannot capture Maximal was only a cheapie back in the day - It arrived with so many problems & it took me ages to sort everything to my satisfaction!! It works 100% now & I love it, very happy to own it!! The Chicago track intro is an excellent test for any cassette machine & the Panasonic Walkman copes really well on that track with amazing depth & dynamic range!! I did detect a tiny flutter on the third track though............those 'Sparkly American Keyboards' as I call them are again not easy for any cassette machine!! That said, the tiny transport a Walkman has - they have no business sounding anything like yours does mate As for mp3, I encode always from wave or flac files & using lame encoding I use the highest & top quality settings (Takes a while) @ 256kbps!! This sounds simply stunning especially on Winamp here or my Panasonic music server & also burnt to audio CD!! Very rarely do I hear any pumping or compression artifacts, in fact I couldn't say when I last did!! Mp3 can sound amazing - Mine do!
My new (To me) Fisher with the woofers & tweeters stiffened up (Unintentionally) with 3 coats of blue enamel paint!! Not only does it look amazing, the bass has improved beyond words!! Am not going to waffle on, see my thread 'Blue Blue Day' to see the transformation....... for now, headphones on or speakers up & just listen, these things are serious contenders!!! Get one if you can!! 90's dance anthem all over Europe & sums up today's weather
