This came up on my YouTube feed today, has anyone ever seen or heard of these units? It is cool as hell, but I can't help thinking this is an answer to a question no one ever asked. I think there were a few products that fit this category at that time! Thoughts? Anyone have one, or desperately wanted one back in the day?
Those are really neat looking but I don't think there's many around, there might be a few ads in the newspaper ad section. Did you catch the boombox Walkman Thread? There's alot of similar boxes out there. https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/boomboxes-with-detachable-walkmans.1859/ I've got a few, the most popular were the stereo microcassette versions, a few years ago they were also super rare but now they come up for sale on a regular basis. The Sanyo/Fisher/Sears Version, some with a TV, seem to be all over now.
I thought their had to be some on here, but search doesn't seem to do so well with model number dashes!
Yea I just found this old one..... https://www.stereo2go.com/topic/ind...92314111653378&content_oid=193392314111957572 I was close to getting one but forgot to bid (like a bunch of others).
I have one, every example surviving today will need speaker surrounds replacement but definitely worth the effort as it sounds great , the power that comes out of those small speakers is impressive , something like todays Bluetooth speakers ! It's a conversation starter , at first glance you pass it for a boombox until you pull out the cassette player and you realise it's a Walkman or the radio becoming portable! Once I showed a friend a room full of boomboxes walkmans and a lot of other vintage electronic stuff explaining briefly what is special about each one after he left the room pretty amazed he told me that this little Hitachi impresed him the most , true story. I'll dig it out and post some pics.
