Just looking to get some information regarding this JVC PC-6 Boombox. It's new in open box with all internal boxes and packaging as well as accessories and manual. Thinking about selling. Bought it from an estate sale and never tried to test it. I don't want to take it from new to used. I did look at the speakers and they are still in like new condition with no deterioration or yellowing. There's no yellowing anywhere. Wondering what the groups thoughts were. I know that this is a very rare one and don't see any others in the same condition.

Definately a well built model and one of several compo models, units that were more portable mini-stereos than "boomboxes." I think the PC-7 is the king of the crop but super rare with the PC-6 a close 2nd.

I don't know where the rest fit in, the PC-5 (The Quintet) was heavily marketed with the Harlem Globetrotters and always sold for decent money. The PC-55JW is probably the most sought after with it's iconic LED screen but models like the PC-11 were ignored for years and could be bought for cheap up until recently. There's some other lower models, I think they weren't made in Japan and look to be lower quality.

Most, if not all of these, are true components meaning they connect with RCA cables and can be used with full-sized equipment. Some "compo" boomboxes used proprietary ribbon cables and the equipment would only work with it's matching units.

There's a lot of Walkman Collectors that like NOS but not so many boombox NOS collectors, I think most of us like to listen to the equipment, especially these nicer models.

This is a really cool boombox. It is a PC-3 with an extra equalizer and larger speakers with tweeters. I have no experience with it, because I have never had the chance to score one. You hardly ever see them for sale. The PC-3 is one of my favorites, though. I find it much nicer than the PC-5, mainly because the knobs rotate rather than slide like on the PC-5. The cassette deck of the PC-3 and PC-6 is less advanced than the deck of the PC-5 and PC-7, though. That is why the PC-5/7 is just a step up.

I think it is worth putting it together and testing what it still does. Most boombox collectors aren't really into shelf queens and want to get the whole thing working so they can actually experience it. I still have boomboxes that are brand new in the box, but I don't care for them compared to a unit I can actually play with.

It is a beautiful find, though. You really came across a needle in a haystack :)
