This is not what I expected, reviewing old threads one of the problems by using a NiCd charger with a NiMh battery was the too long time of charging it.

I was waiting black friday to make and order for a intelligent charger but this make me wondering if it has sense

I took a better pic of the belt, it seems thinner enough, althought as soon as I get the new belt I'll try

As I'm aware one pinch roller has a dent, and this makes only side B works I have orderd at Mariam's two pinch roller. Side A is not stable and has a big wov & flutter

The sound quality, very similar to what I remember of my lost Panasonic RQ-S45, as a sushi Japanesse knife extremely preccised but a little cold. The s-xbx mode introduces a certain level of noise, not important when you hear at high volumes but a lower volumes difficults the audio passage observation. Wide stage and clear distance between instruments, but thickness bass, and is not the most powerfull of the walkmans. Said that is a precious jewel that needs to be tasted in a quiet enviroment, at night it is perfect, and with a good quality record, to extract all its potential. I'm sure you can hear almost imposible details for other walkmans if what you like is an analytical listening. Otherwise is not the perfect partner for a easy listenig or for a noisy enviroment

    Hi Juan - nice post.
I bought a Panasonic RQ-S45 last week, I've just opened it up and it looks similar to your S35. I need to replace the belts and of course the tricky bit of removing the pcb first.

Thanks for this - much appreciated :thumbsup2:

"the pcb was desoldering: 4 solder points motor, 2 points solenoid, one more for Ac (I think so) and I have to desolder 4 points for the tape selector"

Hi Rtb, I had the RQ-S45, nice unit!

A desoldering pump and a little bit of patience and you'll get it. Give me a shout if you need anything

It has a few marks and has suffered a bit of corrosion at some point - not bad for £14.

You can see the corrosion here - hopefully the other side of the pcb is OK.
I've highlighted where I think I need to de-solder (circles). Do I also need to de-solder at the battery terminals (arrows) or anywhere else?

Battery terminal (+) next to the motor soldering points is not necessary to desolder in RQ-S35, I think so in RQ-S45, but the other (-) next to the solenoid points yes. Fortunately it appears that the tape selector has another configuration in RQ-S45 and you don't have to desolder it. Then you have to remove the screws over the pcb.Deoxit for the corrosion, and IPA for the pinch rollers. Belt is the same for both and you can get it from Marian. Pinch rollers are problematic, in my case once I replaced the belt the unit has speed issues, the tape slips in one direction. I replaced the pinch roller's rubber but the issue continued, from a donor unit, in this case a RQ-V520 I bough for 7€, I swapp pinch roller's chassis and the issue dissapear. The other side plays a little slow, the donor unit didn't have the other chassis in good shape.
