I have been looking through the Toshiba "Walky" advertisement thread (I use "Walky" in inverted commas as I don't think they were ever labelled as that here) and apart from bringing back memories of my second Walkman, it also brought back memories of headphones. I am sure I had a pair of those fold up ones at some stage (which might have come with my player), but I also remember in the late eighties having a pair of Toshiba headphones that were still over the head, and still full size, but had a plastic bit that actually sat inside your ears. It was before there was much in the way of in-ear headphones (certainly no good ones), but I remember them sounding awesome because they were still a full size speaker, but were directing the sound directly into your ears like an in-ear model. They were so good that we used to buy whole Walkmans just to get them, then sell of the player and keep the headphones.

I think some players had a similar design later on with a round disc sitting in the ear that was perpendicular to the hole, but the Toshiba ones were so much better because they still had a "full" size speaker and had awesome bass.

I have done my darndest to find a picture of them online, but have not been able to.

Does anyone remember or have a pair of these headphones? As mentioned, they were Toshiba branded, looked the same as your average headphones from that time, but instead of having padding, where the speaker was was enclosed with a plastic bit at the back sticking out (or technically in) with holes in the front where the sound came out directly into your ear canal.

    Picture added for attention.

The KT-4056 for $219, maybe the foldable headphones weren't from it. I just had to have that digital tuner! I always thought it was a slightly strange design having the FF/REW buttons actually be windows on the front of the unit that literally pushed down the reels to activate. That mechanism was discontinued the next year for a more standard "buttons on the side" design.

I don't know if these are the ones you're looking for, but they're the only ones I have from Toshiba.
    Foldable...

    Nice!
Yes, the ones I was looking for were not foldable, I think they came out after these. I might have to draw a picture of what they looked like as I'm not sure how good my description is!
